Sri Lanka Players in IPL: Chennai Super Kings
The Sri Lankan duo of Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana will continue to play for CSK in the IPL 2025. Pathirana was a star performer for CSK in 2023 with 19 wickets in 12 matches. His economy was fairly good and he was a genuine wicket taker for CSK. Theekshana also bowled well picking up 11 wickets in 13 games.
Pathirana was half fit for the World Cup 2023 and hence played only 2 games. Theekshana played 8 matches but managed only 6 wickets and was expensive too. Pathirana has featured in domestic competitions of Sri Lanka where he took wickets but still remained quite expensive. Theekshana however, has still struggled for form and it is a concerning sign for CSK.
Sri Lanka Players in IPL: Sunrisers Hyderabad
Wanindu Hasaranga played IPL 2023 for RCB taking 9 wickets in 8 matches. He was quite ordinary with the bat in IPL 2023 and hence was released by RCB. During the IPL 2025 Auction, he was bought for 1.5 Crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hasaranga was injured recently which made him unable to play the World Cup.

Nuwan Thushara and Dilshan Madushanka will make their IPL Debuts by representing one of the biggest IPL Franchise, Mumbai Indians. Nuwan Thushara was picked for 4.8 Crores in the auction while Dilshan Madushanka got 4.6 Crores.
Both the pace bowlers seemed to be in high demand. Dilshan Madushanka stunned everyone in World Cup 2023 with his clinical performances taking 21 wickets in 9 matches. The young man has taken wickets in the ongoing List-A competition in Sri Lanka too. Nuwan Thushara on the other end was rather surprising pick. He is a rather underrated pace having 107 T20 wickets in 79 matches to his name. He has taken 6 wickets in the first 3 games of the ongoing List-A competition in Sri Lanka.
