PSL Winners List (2016 to 2025) PSL All Season Winners

Pakistan Super League is Pakistan’s brand of franchise T20 cricket leagues and is rated as one of the best ranked T20 leagues in world cricket at the moment. PSL winners list is not very long as only six editions of PSL has taken place. Below we have compiled Pakistan Super League winners list for our readers.

The Pakistan Super League began in 2016, with the initial seasons in UAE. The event then returned to Pakistan in different phases, and now since PSL 2020, all matches of PSL held in Pakistan.

PSL has had five champions in the initial six editions of the event, yet no team feature in PSL winners list consecutively, and that shows you how tough the competition is in this league.

Lahore Qalandars is the only unlucky side not to have their name PSL champion team list. Following are the details of all the PSL Winners List over the years.

PSL 2024 took place across four cities in Pakistan in February and March 2024. Islamabad United made history by clinching a record breaking third title and entering the PSL cup winners list for a third time.

A half century from Usman Khan guided Multan Sultans to a total of 159, which United chased down in the last ball of their innings. Martin Guptill scored a half century for United. Babar Azam finished the season as the leading run-scorer with 569 runs while Usama Mir finished as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets. 

PSL 2023 champions Lahore Qalandars eneterd in the record books when they become the first team in PSL histry to defend PSL title and also becomes the second team PSL to become two times PSL winner.

Both the finalist were neck to neck throoughout the tournamnet and differentiated by just 1 run which wa sthe winning margin of Lahore Qalandars. Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer for Qalandars with 429 runs whereas Rashid Khan has 20 wickets but intrestingly tournament top scorer and top wicket takers were both from Multan, Mohammad Rizwan and Abbass Afridi respectively.

Lahore Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi adjudged man of the match in finals for his 15 balls 44 unbeaten and 4 wickets with the ball.

PSL 2022 Champion is Lahore Qalandars. It was the second time when Lahore qualified for the final of the Pakistan Super League. Interestingly in all other editions of PSL Lahore never qualified for the play-offs. Throughout the round matches, Lahore was the second-best team behind defending champion Multan Sultans and the only team to beat table topper Multan in round matches and then in the Final of the tournament.

Although it was a team effort Lahore’s dominance can be seen as batting and bowling charts in PSL 2022 Led by Lahore Players. Fakhar Zaman scored 588 runs with a century and 7 fifties and their captain Shaheen Shah Afridi was the highest wicket-taker with 20 scalps. Young Zaman Khan was also impressed with 18 wickets in his debut PSL season.

Mohamad Hafeez was the man of the match in the final with 69 runs with the bat and a couple of wickets to ensure his side got their maiden PSL title.

PSL 2021 Champion team was Multan Sultans. PSL 2021 was Multan’s first-ever final appearance, and they won it with sheer dominance. Multan faced Peshawar Zalmi in the final and defeated them quite easily. It was Multan’s first appearance on the PSL winners list.

Sohaib Maqsood was the star of the final, smashing an unbeaten 65. Sohaib Maqsood was awarded the Man of the Match award in the final.

Multan Sultans won the event under their newly appointed captain, Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan was also the highest run-getter for Multan Sultans.

Emerging fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani was the best bowler of Multan and the entire event, picking up 20 wickets. Sohaib Maqsood was awarded the Man of the tournament for his 428 runs. Both played their part in making Multan Sultan PSL 2021 winner.

PSL 2020 Champion team was Karachi Kings. The final was considered a fan favorite one as two of the most popular cities, Karachi and Lahore, clashed. 

Karachi Kings played a dominating show in the final and won it by five wickets. The show’s stars were Karachi’s bowlers, who restricted the Qalandars to a low score, and then Babar Azam smashed unbeaten 63 to seal the deal for the Kings.

Karachi Kings won their first and only PSL Trophy under the leadership of Imad Wasim. Babar Azam was the best batsman of the tournament with 473 runs and was awarded Man of the Match in the final and Man of the Tournament of the event. Mohammad Amir was the best bowler for the Kings with ten wickets. Babar Azam played an important part in making Karachi Kings PSL 2020 winner.

PSL 2019 Champion team was Quetta Gladiators. They qualified for the final twice before 2019 but fell short on both occasions. However, 2020 was their year, and they finally lifted the trophy defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the final. Quetta won their only PSL Trophy under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy.

Mohammad Hasnain led the charge with three wickets, and it was Quetta’s bowling that set up the final very nicely for them after restricting Zalmi to a low score. Then a half-century by Ahmed Shahzad ensured that Quetta finally got their hands on the gold.

Mohammad Hasnain was awarded Man of the match in the final for picking up three wickets. Sohail Tanvir was the best bowler for Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2019, with 19 wickets to his name. 

Shane Watson scored 430 runs for Quetta in PSL 2019 and was the best batsman of the entire event. Watson was awarded Man of the Tournament and it was his crucial contributions that made Quetta Gladiators PSL 2019 winner.. 

PSL 2018 Champion team was Islamabad United. Islamabad is the only franchise to have its name featured in the PSL Champion list twice. Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the final. 

The stars were Shadab Khan, Luke Ronchi, and Asif Ali. Shadab picked three wickets with the ball, while Ronchi scored 26-ball 52 in the final. 

Asif Ali finished the final in a grand style, smashing three consecutive sixes to Hassan Ali. Islamabad United won the final by three wickets with three overs to spare.

Islamabad United had three different captains in this season. They started with Misbah-ul-Haq, then mid-season, they were led by Rumman Raees, and in the concluding stages of the event, including the final, they were led by JP Duminy. 

With 435 runs, Luke Ronchi was the best batsman of the entire event. Ronchi was Man of the match in the final and the tournament man. Faheem Ashraf was the best bowler for Islamabad United with 18 scalps. Ronchi and Faheem carried Islamabad to PSL 2018 winner.

PSL 2017 Champion team was Peshawar Zalmi when they ran over Quetta Gladiators in the final with ease. Kamran Akmal’s 40(28) and Darren Sammy’s 28(11) allowed Peshawar to put up 148 on the board in the final. In reply, Quetta was bundled out for just 90. The Captain of Peshawar Zalmi, Darren Sammy, was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant cameo and captaincy.

Kamran Akmal scored 353 runs for Peshawar Zalmi in the event; he was the best batsman of the entire event and was awarded Man of the Tournament. Wahab Riaz was Zalmi’s best bowler with 15 wickets in the event. Akmal and Wahab efforts made Peshawar Zalmi PSL 2017 winner.

Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad, won the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League. Islamabad United defeated Quetta Gladiators in the final with ease. It was a high-scoring final, with Quetta putting up 174 on the board while batting first. 

Ahmed Shahzad and Kumar Sangakkara scored half-centuries for Quetta. Meanwhile, Islamabad United chased the total with eight balls to spare thanks to 73 runs cameo by Dwayne Smith and an unbeaten 61 by Brad Haddin. Dwayne Smith was awarded Man of the match in the final.

Islamabad United won the event under the captaincy of Misbah-ul-Haq. With 299 runs, Sharjeel Khan was the best batsman for Islamabad United throughout the event. 

Andre Russell was the best bowler for Islamabad United, and he was the best bowler of the entire event, with 16 wickets. Karachi Kings’ Ravi Bopara was awarded player of the tournament for picking up 11 wickets and scoring 329 runs in the event. Bopara heroics made IU PSL 2016 winner.
