2023 Purple Cap Winner

Mohammad Shami picked up 28 wickets in 17 games for Gujarat Titans. He strike at almost 14th ball during the tournament while maintaining bowling average of 18.64. He also took 2 four wicket hauls with best bowling of 4/11.

Purple Cap Winner 2022

Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bagged the purple cap in 2022 IPL by grabbing 27 wickets in 17 games with an average of 19.51. He bagged one five wicket haul and one 4 wicket haul during the event.

2009 winner of Purple Cap

With 23 wickets in 16 games, Deccan Chargers’ RP Singh became the purple cap winner of IPL 2009. He had an average of 18 and an economy rate of 6.98 with one 4-wicket haul in the tournament.

Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir was the purple cap winner in inaugural IPL edition with 22 wickets in 11 games. With one fifer and one 4-wicket haul, Sohail had a bowling average of 12 and economy rate of 6.46. He was with Rajasthan Royals this season. He is the first and only bowler from Rajasthan Royals to win the purple cap and helped them to get crowned as IPL winners.
