Australia Cricket Board has unveiled the Star Nation Jersey for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2024. The jersey is predominantly yellow, with First Nations artwork designed by Aunty Fiona Clarke on the side. The artwork represents the deep connection between cricket and the country’s Indigenous communities.

The jersey was launched on September 20, 2024, at the MCG, with players such as Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, and Glenn Maxwell in attendance. Cummins spoke about the importance of the jersey, saying: “We are incredibly proud to wear this jersey at the World Cup. It represents the diversity of our country and the strength of our connection to Indigenous cricket.”

The Star Nation Jersey is available for purchase now through the Cricket Australia website.

I think it is great that the Australia Cricket Board has chosen to incorporate First Nations artwork into their World Cup jersey. It is a way to show respect for the country’s Indigenous heritage and to celebrate the diversity of the Australian cricket team. I am sure that the players will be proud to wear the jersey at the World Cup, and I hope that it will inspire other sporting organizations to follow suit.
